Larissa Smagarinsky is an Australian sculptor whose work is rooted in classical figurative traditions and shaped by a rich multicultural background. Born in Belogorsk, Russia, she spent her early years across the former Soviet Union before undertaking formal training at Dushanbe Art College and later completing a Master’s degree in architectural, decorative, and monumental sculpture in St. Petersburg. Since relocating to Australia in 1982, Smagarinsky has worked primarily in bronze and stone, creating sculptures that explore love, movement, and the inner life of the human form. Her work has been exhibited widely, including solo exhibitions at the Sydney Opera House, and she has completed numerous major public commissions throughout Australia, earning recognition for sculptures that invite reflection, calm, and a deep connection to the human experience.
