Vladimir Kagan was a pioneering American furniture designer whose sculptural, human-centered creations helped define modern design. Born in Worms, Germany, and emigrating to the United States in 1938, Kagan combined traditional craftsmanship - learned from his father, a master cabinetmaker - with an innovative design vision shaped by his studies in architecture. Renowned for introducing the first curved sofa and for creating furniture he described as “vessels to hold the human body,” Kagan spent nearly seven decades redefining modern living through organic forms, comfort, and social interaction. His enduring legacy continues through the dedicated team preserving and evolving his iconic designs. Available in all standard finishes with custom materials and sizing available upon request.
