MAREO is a multidisciplinary visual artist whose practice explores the intersection of nature, light, and transformation, bridging the physical and metaphysical. Born in Mexico City and raised in Colombia, he is based in Barcelona, where his work spans painting, sculpture, installation, and digital media. With academic training in architecture, design, and fine arts, Mareo integrates structural precision with expressive abstraction, using landscape and geological forms as metaphors for internal and cosmic states. Central to his practice is the concept of Portals - organic fissures and flowing lines inspired by natural formations that function as both physical ruptures and symbolic gateways - through which he examines dualities such as matter and light, division and unity, and wound and healing.
