Isac Elam Kaid is an artist and designer, based in Vancouver, Canada. Born in 1991. He grew up in Alberta, Canada. His practice is based on the exploration of material, source and process in order to create an ongoing dialogue of meaningful work. This relationship, between experimentation and matter, seeks answers through form, inherent material value and means of process. His work has been exhibited and published internationally. A singular stone block is split using a traditional wedge and feather technique. The exact formation of the split is influenced - but ultimately cannot be controlled. This work is a sculptural study in responding to and working with the natural fractures within the stone, guiding both the artist’s approach and subsequent material decisions. The fractured stone is strapped and bound using Italian bovine leather, with hand-cast silver clasps and buckles. 2025. LIMITED EDITION. NUMBERED.
